Tatum, from the bottom of my heart: I thank you.
Vatican Official Denounces Brittany Maynard's Assisted Suicide
Tue Nov 4, 2014
I'm sorry, but any god that would require someone to suffer through dying a painful death from cancer rather than ending things before they had no quality of life whatsoever is an evil god. This is a huge part of the reason why I'm not Catholic anymore.
Roberts: Orman Pitch 'Sounds Like a High School Sophomore'
Mon Nov 3, 2014
You can't compare your opponent to a high school sophomore and then demand an apology for his metaphorical reference to a clown car. Seems like this guy is having a bit of a cognitive disconnect.
Toys 'R Us Pulls 'Breaking Bad' Action Figures After Petition
Tue Oct 21, 2014
Your kid asks for the toy, you tell them "no, it's inappropriate" - it's that simple. And I'm kind of wondering what kid would ask their parents for a toy like that unless they'd actually watched the show. Out of context, those action figures seem pretty boring to me. Basically, it's a huge overreac …
In the Clear: Contacts of Ebola Patient Thomas Eric Duncan Near Milestone
Sun Oct 19, 2014
Well, great. Now can everyone stop fear-mongering and panicking? This guy came down with full-blown ebola among the public, and the only people who were infected were the nurses who were handling his bodily fluids when he was at his most infectious. It's not THAT contagious.
Beyond Brittany: Assisted Suicides Happen in Every State, Insiders Say
Sat Oct 18, 2014
I watched two elderly relatives die of metastatic cancer. One of the most horrifying ways to go I can imagine. I didn't even mourn their deaths really - I was too relieved by the fact that their massive levels of suffering had come to an end.
Where Have All America's Little Italys Gone?"'
Mon Oct 13, 2014
Call me crazy, but I don't find this hugely tragic. I grew up in Jersey, so everywhere was "Little Italy" - these communities were important when the inhabitants were marginalized or newly immigrated and had a hard time living normal lives in mainstream America. Italians and Italian-Americans are no …
Texas Ebola Patient Thomas Eric Duncan Has Died, Hospital Says
Wed Oct 8, 2014
I wonder if he would have survived if the hospital had actually started treating him when he first exhibited symptoms. By the time he was admitted as an in-patient, he was suffering from the full-blown disease. Such a sad story - he reunites with his long-ago girlfriend, the mother of his child, onl …
Save Excalibur! Pet Lovers Unite to Protect Ebola Patient's Dog
Wed Oct 8, 2014
I feel like authorities are missing an opportunity here. So far, there has been no case where there has been a question of a dog in a Western country hosting the ebola virus. They should be isolating the dog at a secure facility and taking regular blood samples to see if the dog is incubating or car …
Dog Named 'Lazarus' Survives Euthanasia Attempt
Sun Oct 5, 2014
In reply to: 321steve #13.3 Little defensive there Steve-O? Pure-bred dogs are euthanized all the time in shelters, especially in the South where rates of spaying and neutering are much lower. Or they get sold to laboratories once the breeders have taken their pick of a litter of pups. And if your " …
